The Atelier
Studio Agni’s atelier is located on the ground floor of a historic barn in Tresillian village, Cornwall. The building carries deep historical roots, dating back to at least the 18th century, and has long been shaped by cycles of making, labour, and rural life. This sense of continuity and material history informs the atmosphere of the studio today.
The space is fully equipped for both production and learning, supporting a wide range of ceramic processes from raw clay to finished work. It houses three electric kilns (100L, 220L, and 290L), a small gas kiln, and six potters’ wheels, plus an additional wheel dedicated to Funda Ersoysal’s personal practice. Alongside this are a slab roller, pugmill, a range of handbuilding moulds, studio-developed glazes, and a full collection of ceramic tools supporting both wheel-thrown and handbuilt work.
The atelier includes dedicated shelving for students and members, allowing for ongoing projects, structured learning, and continuity of practice over time. A shared kitchen area supports longer studio days, while an outdoor space extends the working environment beyond the interior, allowing materials and processes to move between inside and outside conditions.
Onsite parking is available, ensuring accessibility for students, members, and visiting practitioners.
Above the atelier sits the Studio Agni shop, where finished work is presented and available to purchase directly. This close relationship between making and presentation creates a direct connection between process and outcome, allowing visitors to experience both the working studio and completed ceramics within the same site.
The atelier functions as a working studio, teaching space, and site of ongoing experimentation—supporting production, learning, and exchange within a shared material environment.
