FAQs

General Studio Use

Where is Studio Agni located?

We’re based in Tresillian, just outside Truro, Cornwall.

What are the studio opening hours?

Studio hours vary depending on courses and member access. Members can check their allowance online (from September) or contact us directly for details.

Do you allow drop-ins?

Currently, we don’t offer drop-in sessions. The studio can be accessed through courses or memberships only.

Can I hire the studio for a private group session?

Yes, we sometimes host private workshops for groups, birthdays, or team-building. Please get in touch to discuss availability and pricing.

Do you offer firing-only services?

Yes, non-members can arrange for firing, subject to kiln space and schedule. Please contact us for prices and guidelines.

Courses

Do I need any experience to join a course?

No experience is needed! Our Intro to Clay course is designed for complete beginners, while Wheel Throwing and other courses are suitable for those with a little more experience.

How do I book a course?

Courses can be booked online via our website. Spaces are limited and tend to fill quickly, so we recommend booking early.

What’s included in the course fee?

All clay, glazes, tools, tuition, and firings are included in the price unless otherwise stated.

What should I wear to a class?

Clay can get messy! We recommend wearing old clothes and closed-toe shoes. Aprons are also a good idea.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Just yourself. We provide all the tools, clay, and equipment you’ll need.

What happens if I miss a class?

Unfortunately, we can’t offer make-up sessions for missed classes, but you’ll still learn plenty in the remaining sessions.

Can children join courses?

At the moment, our courses are designed for people over the age of 12. Family or children’s workshops may be available in the future.

Membership

How do I become a member?

To join as a member, you’ll need to have completed a course with us, or elsewhere, and feel confident working independently in the studio.

What’s included in membership?

  • A personal shelf space

  • Access to studio equipment and tools during open hours

  • Monthly clay allowance

  • Discounted rates of firings

  • Discounts for workhops and Studio Agni ware

  • A welcoming, creative community

Would you be around to help if I needed it?

Yes,  there is always someone at the studio to assist you or answer any questions that you might have. But if you would like to get better at certain things or require troubleshooting, then we suggest booking a 1:1 session with one of our teachers.

How do I pay for membership?

Memberships are currently paid monthly via bank transfer. From mid-September, we’re launching a new online booking and payment system where you’ll have your own account to manage everything.

What if I want to cancel my membership?

We ask for one month’s notice if you’d like to cancel.

What happens if I don’t use the studio for a while?

If you haven’t been in for a month and payments are not up to date, we’ll clear your shelf space to make room for others.

Can I pause my membership?

At this stage, we don’t offer a pause option. If you need time off, you can cancel with one month’s notice and reapply when you’re ready.

Practicalities

Do you sell clay or materials?

Yes, we stock clay for members and course participants. Additional clay and firing beyond your allowance can be purchased.

Can I bring my own clay?

Members can bring their own clay, but it must be approved by us to ensure it’s compatible with our kiln and firing temperatures. You also need to provide your own bucket or container for reclaiming the clay.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes! Vouchers are available and make a perfect present for anyone curious about clay.

Is there parking at the studio?

Yes, there is free parking available nearby.

Do you have disabled access?

Please contact us directly to discuss access needs — we’ll do everything we can to accommodate.

Accessibility

Is the studio wheelchair accessible?

The studio is on the ground floor, but access may be limited depending on mobility needs. Please get in touch before booking so we can talk through the details and support you in the best way possible.

Do you provide seating during classes?

Yes, we can provide stools or chairs if you need to work seated rather than standing.

Can I attend if I have additional learning needs or require extra support?

Absolutely. We welcome all learners. If you require extra support, please let us know in advance so we can adapt the session where possible.

Is there accessible parking?

Yes, parking is available close to the studio. If you need a space directly outside, let us know before your visit.

Do you offer quiet sessions?

Our courses run in small groups, but if you’re sensitive to noise or crowds, we’ll do our best to recommend a suitable session.

I’m not sure if I’ll manage the physical side of working with clay. What should I do?

Clay can be physically demanding, but there are many ways to adapt. Please get in touch before booking, and we’ll chat through what might work best for you.
